Day 02
Lima
In the morning, guided tour of the most important and attractive places of Lima, the "City of Kings". The tour includes tour of the Historic Center of Lima, panoramic view of the Plaza San Martin, Plaza Mayor, Government Palace, Cathedral, Archbishop's Palace, Municipal Palace, Church of Santo Domingo, where the tombs of Santa Rosa and San Martin de Porres, Lima Colonial and balconies. Then visit the Convent and Church of San Francisco, the greatest monumental complex of Colonial Art in America and Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The tour includes a visit to the Basilica of 21 altars, convent cloisters and chapter rooms and tangerine, Chorus and Librarythe monks, museum that displays 11 paintings of the Rubens School, the Sacristy with paintings by Zurbaran and Rivera, great patio decorated with Seville tiles of XVI century, Moorish arches and underground catacombs. Then we visit the residential districts of San Isidro and Miraflores, passing by the Huaca Pucllana, ceremonial and administrative center of the Lima Culture built in the second century AD and considered by the Incas as Ñaupallaqta, "Holy People"; park El Olivar de San Isidro, with olive trees brought from Spain in the fifteenth century; the Central Park of Miraflores and Larcomar, tourist and entertainment center, a symbol of modern Lima and vantage point to appreciate a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean. Free time for lunch. In the afternoon, for an excellent introduction to Peru's past, visit the Museo Larco Herrera, considered the museum with the largest private collection of Peruvian pre-Columbian art. This exhibit shows examples of textiles, one of which has a record breaking 398 threads per inch; and tools used by ancient Peruvians to work ceramic and metal. It also has a collection of ceramics, gold and silver with semiprecious stones belonging to different cultures Pre-Inca and Inca of Peru. Return to hotel in Lima.
