Regions And Wheather

Regions And Wheather
Peru is divided into three geographic regions :

The Coast:  Region bordered by the Pacific Ocean on the west, and desert areas due to the Humboldt current. It posseses beautiful beaches and fertile valleys. Here you can find cotton, sugar, and rice agricultural plantations; as well as the majority of the offshore oil wells.

The coast experiences two very distinct seasons: summer (from December to March), with an average temperatures of 27 °C. As well as Winter, (from May to October), which is humid and cold(in Lima), with an average temperature of 12 °C. Although it rarely rains on the Peruvian Coast, fog and light drizzling is common during the winter. The far northern coast is sunny all year round and temperatures can reach up to 35 °C in the summer.

Sierra: This region is bisected by the Cordillera of the Andes. Which at its highest point reaches 6,768 meters above sea level (22,204 feet) found at the summit of the snowed covered Huascaran. Most of the countries mineral resources are in this area, like: silver, zinc, lead, copper, gold, and most of the country livestock.

It has a dry temperate climate and two well-defined seasons: summer (from May to October) with sunny days, cold nights, and scarce rain. This is the best time to visit the region. The rainy season is from December to March. In the highlands, it is common for significant weather changes to vary from 20 °C to 2°C in the same day.

Jungle: Region of tropical forests, which is located in the Peruvian Amazon. Where large rivers, like the Amazon river can be found with grand biodiversity and animal life. It has a humid tropical climate and two clearly distinct seasons: summer or ebb (from May to October) with sunny days and temperatures over 30°C ; as well as rainy season ( from November to March), at this time the river flow increases significantly.
